Zach & Jess

Zach + Jess scored THE most stunning day earlier this wedding season for their wedding at Elliot House.

I LOVE that Jess was about to “spy” on the guests as they arrived … and especially on her handsome Groom!

UPDATE :: Elliot House has just sold. I’m really hoping a new buyer of Elliot House continues to offer it as a venue for weddings, especially for the fabulous light in the house for preparation photos.

I asked Jess to tell us about her big day and here is what she had to say:

Describe how you met & tell us about your proposal.

We met at a mutual friends birthday, Zach proposed about 8 years later. We had spent the day out at Waychinicup National Park and he asked while sitting on Cheynes Beach.

Did you chose a particular theme or style and if so, why?

No particular theme, we just wanted something fairly casual and laid back.

Did your chosen location have any specific significance?

No, other than the beautiful views over Albany.

Tell us about any special touches/mentions/family traditions at your wedding.

We got married 3 days after celebrating 10 years together. We had a few dates in mind when planning the wedding but in the end we settled on this date.
Nanna cut the sleeve off her wedding dress to give me some lace to include in my bouquet as “something old” and lent me a lace handkerchief that belonged to her mum (great nanna) that we included in the ring box.
Both our mums collected and dried rose petals from their gardens to be thrown at the end of the ceremony.

What was your most memorable moment of your wedding day?

Hearing the beautiful vows Zach wrote during the ceremony. That and the night spent dancing with family and friends.

Which was your favourite photo & why?

It’s so hard to pick a favourite! There are so many we love. Zach’s favourite is one of us on the path near the ANZAC centre, with my veil flying and the view of the water behind us. We love Albany for many reasons but the views are certainly a plus. Its great to have a photo that incorporates those views. My favourite would probably either be one of the photos of us walking out at the end of the ceremony with rose petals being thrown (the colours look so lovely) or one of the black and white photos of Zach & I walking away at the ANZAC centre.

Tell us about your honeymoon

After the wedding we spent a few nights relaxing on Rottnest Island. We have plans to travel to Italy later next year.

What one wedding planning tip would you give other brides/couples?

Try not to let the planning stress you out too much, even if things don’t go as planned on the day you won’t notice, you’ll be too busy enjoying your day.

Any other special comments about your wedding you’d like to add?

It was just an amazing day, the weather was great and the day was everything we had hoped for.
